Village Basketball league in full swing

The Brades Basketball court heats up with more basketball action as the Village Basketball Tournament runs into its third week of games, this weekend.

Friday evening, the tournament recommences when Davy Hill Ghetto Star come up against Cudjoe Head Renegades in the first game. St. Peters Hill Top will meet Salem Jammers in the second game to conclude the event’s line-up.

Then on Saturday, Davy Hill Ghetto Stars will clash with MSS in the first match, while Salem Jammers will take on Lookout Shooters to rap-up the evening.

Last weekend, the tournament kicked off with Lookout Shooters against Cudjoe Head Renegades. Shooters took the win scoring 75 to Renegades72 points. Meanwhile Ras Valley went up against St. Peter’s Hilltop and lost by the slim margin of three points with the score 55 to 58 points in the second game.

On Saturday evening Salem Jammers trounced MSS – 79 to 45 in the opening match. St. Peters Hilltop lost against Lookout Shooters in the ‘three-point second game of 64 to 61points.

The teams are battling to take home the championship prize of EC$2,500 which will be awarded to the community of the winning team for developmental purposes, while the team will take home EC$500 and the 2012 championship trophy.

First runner-up of the tournament will walk away with EC$300 cash prize, while second runner-up takes home EC$200 cash prize. Individual players will also be awarded for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

This year’s tournament is held under the collaborative auspices of the Montserrat Amateur Basketball Association (MABA), the Punch and Get-Out Production and Montserrat Sport Sports Department.
