This is a 500 per cent increase in the past two years, said chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation Leo Doodnath, who visited the port yesterday along with the county medical officer, and had an informal meeting with Customs, Immigration, Coast Guard and the police.

Doodnath said the port was not built to accommodate so many travellers and immediate measures will have to be put in place.
