Following reports over the past weekend of their arrests, Antiguan Authorities have formally charged two Montserratian females with possession of cocaine.
Reportedly a Press Release from the Office of Strategic Communications in the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force, stated that 21 year old U.S. born Ashley Warner and 19 year old Serene Leonard both of Montserrat were jointly charged for Possession of five-and-a-quarter (5¼) lbs of Cocaine, Possession with intent to Transfer; Attempting to Export; Being concerned in the supplying of Cocaine and Conspiracy.
Warner was intercepted at the V.C Bird International Airport after she allegedly attempted to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to England last Saturday.
Leonard has been named as Warner’s accomplice and was later picked up boarding the ferry to Montserrat.
They both appeared before the Magistrates Court on Thursday and are remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until Monday January 6, when they are expected to return to Court regarding the class A drug estimated to carry a street value of over $80,000.00.
Both young women, Warner and Leonard have secured legal representatives, namely, Lawyer Stedroy ‘Cutie’ Benjamin and Michael Archibald.
