Two children killed in separate incidents

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Aug 20, CMC – Two children ages six and nine, were killed in separate incidents here, police have confirmed.

They said nine-year-old Cyon Paul, a pupil of the La Romaine RC primary school, was shot near San Fernando, south of here on Friday night. As he was walking along the Southern Main Road near his home with his cousin.

crimeeePolice said the child was hit by a stray bullet following a shooting incident at a bar nearby.

Officers of the San Fernando CID who were on patrol nearby responded and took the child to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In the other incident, six-year-old Parris Scott died in a fire at her family’s home in Laventille, east of here on Saturday.

Police said she had been trapped in a burning bedroom and could not be reached.

Fire fighters found her dead in the ruins. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
