After acting since the departure of the Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) DCoP Bradley Siddell, Charles Thompson is the now Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Charles Thompson has been confirmed in his permanent role as he took up his appointment in November 2014. He joined the Police service on January 1, 1990, after successfully completing regional police training school in Barbados.

During these 25 years of service to the Royal Montserrat Police Force, DC Thompson served in various capacities and departments including, Beat and Patrol, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Court & Process, Salem Station and Training.

He was promoted several times to different ranks in the force. He was first promoted to the rank of Sergeant on November 1, 2003. He served in rank of Inspector February from 2006, and in October 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent, in charge of operations, and finally after a hurried departure of Bradley Siddell, and acting in the deputy position, in November 2014, he received appointment to the rank of Deputy Commissioner.

Having participated in several training in various departments related to policing, Mr. Thompson is the holder of an Associates of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management studies, and a Certificate in Public Administration and another Certificate in Criminal Justice Education.
