PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Feb 4, CMC – A 16-year-old girl is reported to have committed suicide after her mother took away her mobile phone after finding out that she had been posting revealing photographs on social media, the Trinidad Express newspaper reported Monday.
It said that the incident occurred on Saturday when the teenager drank a poisonous statement at her home in Wallerfield in East Trinidad.
The paper reported that a container with “a green liquid” was found in the bedroom.
The mother told police that she had taken away her daughter’s cellphone after relatives discovered she had been posting revealing photographs on social media.
The child was rushed to the Arima Health Facility, where she was pronounced dead

But we do it because we believe our perspective matters…” This is also true for us, and while some may not be aware, we believe that many readers share this view. We are online but we are must also print. That’s because we believe it is more democratic and important for the media to be available for ALL, as the people’s college. A newspaper must not become just a marketing operation or a luxury magazine, a specialist commodity to be purchased by a few. That’s also why our online presence is open access. We join with many other public-spirited newspapers: “We haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can.” But, for a long time now, we have needed to ask for help. Please make a contribution that will help us to be more and better productive. The bottom line for us is that, unless we receive your support our effort will not be able to continue.
