The Honourable Premier Donaldson Romeo and Prime Minister Gaston Brown

The Honourable Premier Donaldson Romeo had good news which he foretold would bring some reprieve for travelers between Antigua and Montserrat as well as business owners who depended on importing and exporting cargo using the Antigua – Montserrat route.

TMR had gleaned information that Hon. Romero had discussions between himself and Prime Minister Gaston Brown to waiver the landing taxes for passengers arriving in Antigua or returning through Antigua. He said these talks resulted in a waiver of embarkation and port taxes in Antigua.

The Premier had received notice, that there would be a waiver of landing fees in favour of SVG Air and Fly Montserrat for the citizens and residents of Montserrat and the cargo vessel transporting goods, receiving the same courtesies that the ferry enjoyed. There was also the waiver of the embarkation tax for the citizens and residents of Montserrat.

Romeo had at the same time of this announcement said that business men who depended on the ferry cargo facility will find an opportunity once per week to get their goods to and from Antigua.
