Under the theme ‘Character Counts’, the Roman Catholic St. Augustine School on July 10 graduated 11 sixth grade students who will move on to the Montserrat Secondary School, when the new school year begins.

01 (19)webPrincipal now for one year read her report as the graduating and prize giving ceremony opened by Teacher Sarah Allen and prayers by Father Mark Schramm, SVD then chaired by Mrs. Chelsea Gerald (Permanent Secretary, MAHLE) who in her opening remarks briefly recounted her own thoughts on character.

The principal reported in general terms that the school continued to be outstanding in the academic and discipline while no longer dominating their sporting world.

Mrs. Agatha Aspin delivered a feature address titled the Pillars of Character which she said “… they shape lives.”

These are, she says, “Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship,” which act as a multi-level filter through which we process or decisions, and in turn live our lives. So being trustworthy is not enough…. You must also be caring. Obeying to the letter of the law is not enough – You must accept responsibilities for your actions and or inactions.”

Students, graduands, recited, sang and danced to entertain their parents, teachers and guests audience in the R.C Lookout St. Patrick’s church.

The eleven children who graduated were Valedictorian Akyla Davis, Rhonda Allen, Anjanique Cassell, Gaamal Claaire, Joshua Golden, Dwayne John, Shanna Johnson, Jwane Lewis, Beyonce Osborne, Josue Pozo and Christen Ryan.
