WOODLANDS, Montserrat – The Parent Teachers Association of the St Augustine Roman Catholic School on Montserrat, reported on Thursday that funds continue to pour in from the community after a successful Radiothon which they hosted on Saturday.
Last Saturday, April 26, 2014, radio personalities Rose Willock and Basil Chambers hosted members of the school board, parents and former students of the school in a three and a half hour radiothon on ZJB Radio Montserrat. The goal was to raise $30,000 to cover several projects at the school, which is the oldest on island.
By the end of the lively radiothon, the team surpassed its target by more than $4000. Now one week later more than $28,000 has already been collected and pledges have now topped $42,000.
President of the PTA Mrs. Beverley Mendes said the school continues to receive the promised donations daily and, “we are extremely pleased with the support we have received and we had quite a number of pledges after the Saturday’s radiothon.”
The next step is for the PTA and the school Board to assign specific school projects to the final amount. The committee will provide an update on the use of funds to the public in the next few months, and as the funds are utilized.
Those wishing to fulfill their pledges can visit the school at Palm Loop, Woodlands Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30pm. Contact the school via email at st.augustine@candw.ms.
