On the invitation of the St. John’s Action Club’s official ground breaking ceremony of the St. John’s Community Resource Centre, they informed that, “For some time now the Community of St. John’s has been without an official Recreation Centre/Community Centre. Through the diligence of the Action Club/St. John’s Community, with the assistance of the Government of Montserrat and through the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) this plight has come to reality.”
The Ceremony took place on the site on Tuesday morning,July 1, 2014 at 11:00. The Honorable Victor James led opening prayers followed by opening remarks by Chairperson Mr. Mervin Brown.
Brief remarks by Deputy Premier the Hon Charles Kirnon, Hon Jermaine Wade; who represented the Honorable Colin Riley, Honorable Victor James as the representative Member of the Opposition, Mr. Adrian Galloway as the BNTF Consultant and the President of the St. John’s Action Club Miss Alysia Lindsey.
The ground-breaking ceremony signaled the start of activities for the construction of the new Community Resource Centre, which the Deputy Premier, Charles Kirnon said it was truly an historical milestone for the people of the St John’s community. He also applauded key stakeholders for their role ‘in bringing the St John’s Community Resource Centre to fruition.’
The project is funded by the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) 6th programme.
Meanwhile, posturing an MCAP campaign shirt, Parliamentary Secretary, Jermaine Wade spoke about the significance of a Community Resource Centre in molding and shaping members of the community, as well as providing a place for members to meet, greet, and socialise.
The ground breaking was done by the Honorables Charles Kirnon and Victor James performed the groundbreaking activities, while Miss Siobhan Tuitt an official of the SJAC, closed with the vote of thank.
