“Success is failure turned inside out; the silver tint of the clouds of doubt……it’s when things seem worse that you must not quit.”
Time goes by so quickly. I still can’t believe that my time at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) has slipped by so fast. What an experience. The memories -both good and bad – will
linger on in my mind forever.
Firstly, I would like to thank GodAlmighty for watching over me each and every day and for helping me tostay focused. The initial adjustment was an eye opener but once Isettled down and linked up with
great friends like Simonia, Tanisha,Alaina, Diquan, Candra, BernieMae, Julisa, Brittany,Ashiema, Brandon, Jahdo, Jovaugn, Jonesha, Randal,Britnee,Vaughn, Angel, JoAnna, Tangiera and Juwan, school life became that much more enjoyable. (It’s a very long list – if I didn’t mention your name please don’t be mad I love you all) .
Not forgetting my fellow contestants of the Mr. and Miss Year Five Show and my dedicated chaperones Ms Amber Woodley and Ms Roxanne Webster – you are the best !! Special love to my colleagues -Chelsey, Senegaland Chaniece who travelled with me to Trinidad along with Tr. Angel Richardson and there we won the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI) regionalcompetition ( a first for Anguilla ). And last, but not least, the 2011 Orange House Cheerleading Squad – Chante, Shauna-Kae, Melinda,Kenesha, Raemisha, Mahalia (just to name a few).
Special thanks to all my teachers at ALHCS especially Mrs Adams, MsQueeley, Mrs Carbon, Mr Johnson, Mrs Davis, Mr Sultan, Ms A. Griffith, MrGordon Hazel,Ms Trejos, Ms C. Rouse, Ms Richardson (PE),
Ms Shaw, Mrs Burns-Connor, Mrs. Lloyd (Special Senior Teacher),Mrs Amanda Hodge, Ms Daniella Richardson, Ms D. Massiah, Mrs Challenger-Gibson, Ms Wallace, Mrs Anita Ruan. Also Ms Faun Campbell (Anguilla Community College) and Mrs Lori Rae-Alleyne-Franklim and Mrs Sandra York-Gumbs ( The Learning Centre, North Hill).
I also want express my sincere thanks and appreciation by our highly respected and hard working Principal Mrs Ingrid Lake. Our many one-on-one pep talks and your overall support have paid off. I am
indeed delighted that I was able to achieve my goal of passing all my twelve (12) subjects (10) in 2011 and two (2010). Of the 10 I sat this year, I achieved grade one in six subjects ( English B, English A, Food and Nutrition, Human And Social Biology were distinctions ), three grade 2 and one grade 3.
In 2010, I did two subjects obtaining two grades ones (1 distinction). Please note that the basis or foundation for my achievement was laid in my home country Montserrat. I owe much credit to my uncle Roy Greaves (I still remember and cherish the days you taught me how to count using small stones from our backyard and indeed true to form my math grades only went up). To all my former teachers at Brades and Look Out Primary Schools in Montserrat including Tr. Edith Duberry and Tr. Maureen Buffonge.
I saved the best for last – a big thank you to my parents Keith and Debby Greaves and also to my little sister Shekera, other family members and close friends of our family for all their love and support. Indeed, to the entire Anguilla and Montserrat communities – remember it takes a whole village (community) to raise a child. I have since moved on to the United States to continue my education.
This is the quote that I used in the Year 5 Pageant ” I have the capability and the potential to outshine the expectation of others. ” This is the quotation I would like to leave for all the current and future students. Thanks again to one and all. God bless.
Simone Greaves
