Untsitled-1Once dubbed National Women’s Day but later renamed International Women’s Day; a global day of recognition has been fêted for years in women’s honour on March 8, every year in both developing and developed countries.

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) branches all across the globe have joined hearts and hands to reflect upon and commemorate the successes, diversity and empowerment of women on this propitious occasion celebrated this year under the theme “Make it Happen”.

RBC – Montserrat is pleased to use this opportunity to honour one of its valuable and long-standing female clients; Ms. Veronica Hickson.

Ms. Hickson is well known for her charm, professionalism, eloquence and poise and she has received numerous accolades for her outstanding contributions to the Montserrat society.

Being an avid and outstanding netball player and fan of sports she is well known for her sterling contributions to the Montserrat Sports Association even before the Netball Association was formed. She then served as the President for The Montserrat Netball association as well as the Caribbean Netball association.

Untitled-1Beyond the field of play, Ms. Hickson participated in the first ever Miss Montserrat Festival Queen Show, did volunteer work to our community at large and served on a number of boards. Perhaps it’s this level of involvement that makes her memorable.

Ms. Hickson has spent most of her professional life as an employee of Montserrat Enterprises Ltd, where she served as Office Manager. Being the ambitious person that she is, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey of her own; and started a Management Service Company, V.A.H. Management Services.

If you have the opportunity to chat with her you will hear her speak with reverberated enthusiasm about her family, close friends, her treasured memories of her home which was destroyed by the volcano and her role in the church. At present she is the President of the Montserrat Mother’s Union Island Council.

Ms. Hickson is an entrepreneur, friend, role model, and the RBC Honorary for this year’s International Women’s Day. Take a bow Ms. Hickson you are indeed a “phenomenal woman.
