Robbery Victim Shot

By Martina Johnson

Antigua – Yet another young man is hospitalised with gunshot injuries sustained in an attempted robbery in the wee hours yesterday.

Twenty-six-year-old Clevan Neckles of Point was reportedly on his way home at about 3 am when a lone masked man attacked him on lower North Street.

The would-be robber demanded cash and other valuables but when Neckles said he had none, the criminal reportedly shot him in the groin.

The shooting victim provided a very general, vague description of his attacker, who he said wore dark clothing and was of medium built.

Neckles is in stable condition at Mount St John’s Medical Centre after successful surgery to remove the bullet.

The police are probing the matter and have asked anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 462-3913/14, or call Crime Stoppers at 800-Tips (8477).

Last week Thursday, two brothers attending St Joseph’s Academy School were shot on lower St John’s Street at about 9:20 pm.

There have been no arrests for the incidents.
