The Red Cross Montserrat branch through the MRC Patron Community Projects raised over $27,000.00 under the leadership of Mrs. Sujue Davis, wife of His Excellency the Governor.
Mrs. Davis set out to raise funds to purchase two automated external defibrillators (AED). She organised a variety show, a silent and live auction which was held on Saturday, November 26, 2012, at Government House in Woodlands.
The outstandingly supported event which featured along with the variety show of skits and songs, included the impromptu singing of ‘the twelve days of Christmas’ by volunteer audience members, was a great success.
Mrs. Davis while expressing thanks to the many persons who assisted in carrying off the MRC event revealed that a total, first stated at $25,000 eventually climed to over $27,000. This sum she said included $4301.12 from Mr. Edward Fort from Fort Foundation who donated an AED.
She said, “this project is for everyone living on Montserrat,” advising that, ”There will be transparency and accountability for MRC Patron Community Projects.”
The Red Cross patron says she is devoting her time and efforts for this good cause, and would be grateful for any suggestions or thoughts on how “we can make the AEDs most effective.”
