Queen’s Birthday celebrations

Montserrat Defence Force

The British overseas territory of Montserrat observed Her Majesty the Queen birthday on June 18, 2011 with the usual parade where there was the beating of drums and the marching of uniformed bodies under clear blue skies, against the back-drop of Soufriere Hills volcano, still in its erupting phase which began exactly one month less sixteen (16) years ago.

This took place at Salem cricket field (park). By estimation a smaller than usual crowd witnessed new Governor Adrian Davis take the march-past and inspected the Guard of Honour, made up of MSS cadets, Montserrat Defence Force men, police officers, firefighters, Girl Guides and Brownies.
