Opening of the New Law Year

Wednesday, 17th September 2014 signals the commencement of the New Law Year for the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. The occasion will be marked with the usual Ceremonial Opening, in the form of a Special Sitting of the Court. The proceedings will commence with a Church Service in the various Member States/Territories, followed by a procession to the High Court of Justice where the formal Court Sitting will be conducted.

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship, Dame Janice M. Pereira, will deliver the Opening Address at 10:00 a.m. from the High Court of Justice in Anguilla where the Court of Appeal will be holding its first scheduled Sitting for the New Law Year. The address captioned “Fulfilling our Strategic Vision in Challenging times” will be carried live, via simulcast to the Courts in the other jurisdictions. Web streaming will be facilitated by ATV Limited out of Anguilla.

Prior to the formal Opening, His Lordship the Honourable Justice Albert Redhead will inspect a Guard of Honour at the Government Headquarters car park situated behind the Ministry of Education Building.

An Ecumenical Service will precede the Opening Ceremony and this will take place at the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Look Out commencing at 8:00am.

The public is encouraged to participate in this significant event, by attending the High Court in their individual Member State; or via live streaming at https://new.livestream.com/anguillatv/ecsc. The public will also be able to follow the live broadcast via local media in the Member States and Territories.
