ST, JOHN’S, Antigua, Mar. 30, CMC – A new runway in Barbuda will be constructed at a cost of US$14.5 million dollars.
The cost of the runway that will be 6,100 feet, was disclosed by Government spokesman Lionel Max Hurst at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
According to Hurst, officials from the British company, BHM Engineering and Construction Group made the disclosure during Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.
The company is hoping to have the final drawing ready by the end of May.
Hurst also said representatives from the company will meet with officials in the Ministry of Aviation over the next few days.
The new runway will be able to accommodate both LIAT ATR’s as well as commercial jets.
