GIU – The Montserrat Public Library will be hosting a series of environmental workshops in collaboration with Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) starting this Saturday, August 31, 2013.
The CCC team will be working in partnership with the library staff to run a Saturday morning programme of creative, scientific and educational activities for young people, a statement from Librarian Sonja Smith read. “From learning about coral reefs to rainforests, watching photo and video shows, model making and artwork the workshops aim to bring the environment of Montserrat closer to the next generation.”
Coral Cay Conservation is an award winning international conservation organisation now working in Montserrat. CCC work not only to collect environmental scientific data but also to teach, engage with and inspire local people to get involved and find out more about their natural resources. We’re working hard surveying marine and forest wildlife on Montserrat and would love to share what we find with you!
Sessions will run twice a month on Saturday mornings from 10am until noon. Materials will be supplied by Coral Cay and the library together with a snack break.
Attendance is free. Although workshops are aimed at young people, all are welcome, the librarian says.
More details of workshop dates can be found at the library on the notice board and on posters around town.
