Principal of the Montserrat Community College (MCC) Paul Payne says the college is hoping to offer a Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) CAPE level subject in Digital Media next year.
Mr. Payne says, “Digital Media is one of the most exciting subjects to be offered by CXC.”
It is on the cutting edge of global technology trends, and will provide Caribbean post-secondary candidates with the opportunity to become critical players in the digital media industry.
The CAPE Digital Media course will facilitate the development of important learning and problem-solving skills, foster creativity, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and inculcate a sense of value in students for their own work, respect and regard for the work of others.
The launch of this syllabus therefore takes on significant importance and compels the institution to leverage use of the various Social Media and ICT tools.
Students are being afforded the opportunity to acquire a variety of experiences and skills in the areas of digital media conceptualization, design and development.
Digital Media also fosters interest and enjoyment in the practical application, production and consumption of digital media, and seeks to develop informed citizens, competent practitioners, and raise the standard of digital media production among students and across industry.
Digital Media competencies are of great relevance and practical value.
