The Montserrat Christian Council (MCC) once again celebrated a ‘Keswick’ Retreat beginning Sunday, October 13 ending tonight Friday 18, 2013. Keswick 2013 is being conducted under the theme “Building Community in Christ: Strengthening Our Christian Witness, the speaker delivering the sermon is Methodist Rev. Patmore Henry of Antigua.
The Keswick retreat brings together all the churches on island running from Sunday evening and every evening through Friday. The services opened on Sunday afternoon at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Brades.
This year the MCC changed the program of services whereby on each day after Sunday, morning prayers and devotions were hosted at a church in areas or districts across the island. On Monday morning the prayers were held at the Roman Catholic St. Martin de Pores church in Salem where members of churches surrounding the Salem area attended. The following morning the service moved to the Beulah Pentecostal church in St. Peters hosting the churches of that area. That continued throughout the island.
Each evening beginning at 7.00 p.m. the area that hosted the morning devotions led the evening service all held at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Brades, where the various churches of the particular area joined in leading the service.
The services were conducted in an ecumenical format of prayers, hymns – songs of worship and praise, scripture reading, dedication of the offering, musical renditions, a sermon by Rev. Patmore, a response and reflection and closing with the benediction.
The morning services were not as well attended as the evening services which drew good attendance with expectation that the final evening would be crowded.
