Several senior elderly members of the Montserrat Community mostly from the Elderly homes were treated to an Easter Monday outing sponsored and hosted by Mr. Neville and Margaret White from New York.
The Montserrat Reporter learned of the event, but was warned that Margaret was avoiding the publicity. She however was convinced of the generosity and the Easter joy she brought to the elderly with the outing she provided.
She explained that her husband Neville White wanted to come back home after years of being away. Home she said was in Delvins where they constructed a house in the 60s – 70s. “My husband,” she said, “is a true Montserratian and is a party person. He wanted to do something to give back to the island.”
They decided to do a senior citizens party here, “because we usually do a Labour Day party up in the Bronx, N.Y. at our house. We flipped it around and made it a senior citizen day for Easter Monday and entertain the seniors,” she said, moving her attention around and making her guests as happy as she can at the Woodlands Beach facility.
She was very well assisted by members of the Old People’s Welfare association catering with love to the elderly who enjoyed the music, food and beverage, with special entertainment in the presence of Miss Goosy.
