Inspector Derona Semper is the first of The Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) Inspectors who will serve on an attachment at the Royal Bermuda Police Service (RBPS) throughout the course of this year.
RMPS Deputy commissioner Bradley Siddell announced this week that the primary purpose of the assignment is to give the Inspectors live operations experience for serious crime investigation. He said the arrangements are in place for Inspector Semper to work in the serious crimes section plus other units in the BPS.
Miss Semper is the first to leave for Bermuda and is scheduled to do so this weekend. During her time in Bermuda inspector Semper will be placed in the field, she will be on call to work alongside other officers on various crimes, working also as part of the investigative team.
Deputy Com Siddell says further, that the attachment will be a refresher, which will allow the participants to apply their skills while gaining additional knowledge that they will bring back to the RMPS and use should the need arise. He expects their confidence levels will be boosted that would result in them being able to react confidently if there is a serious crime.
Inspector Semper is the Chief Instructor Recruitment Training. She leaves a week after the beginning o the fifth (5th) basic police training course, in which five recruits, two women and three men will participate.
