Guyana fisherman killed after warning about smoking cocaine

 GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — The police in Guyana have detained a man who allegedly stabbed to death a 45-year-old fisherman who refused to stop smoking cocaine in his presence on Friday.

Police said that Davanand Jailall, 38, was in the company of other fishermen in the Corentyne area when he was asked stop smoking the drug.

Reports said that he refused and one of the men grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed his colleague.

Police have not yet released the identity of the man being questioned in connection with the murder.

The man had reportedly fled the scene after the stabbing incident but was later arrested.

Investigators said the murder victim’s body bore at least 10 stab wounds, including one to his neck and another to the left side of his face
