Green tea has been the subject of many studies, and we all know it is packed with healthy antioxidants. But it can also have a positive effect on mood.
In a recent study, people who drank two to three cups of green tea daily were about 40% less likely to report feeling depressed than those who drank one cup a day or less. That’s a big effect.
Possible reason: Antioxidants in green tea may help reduce levels of cortisol, a stress hormone associated with depression.
Best: Brew your own green tea, or have a fresh cup from a restaurant or a coffeehouse, rather than buying it in bottles or cans. Premade varieties tend to have a lower antioxidant content.
