A Government House press release on Wednesday, February 2, shows that as Governor Peter Waterworth’s tour of duty winds down during the next few months to April, his office has made some recent donations totaling EC$35,000.00.
According to the release: A group of small farmers, backyard gardeners and school agricultural programmes have received support for the construction of polytunnels for growing a wide variety of crops.
Drummonds residents now have a properly constructed garbage disposal area which replaces the wire mesh area previously installed. The dump building is of concrete area. The release notes that the old area was subject to marauding animals and was attracting rodents and quickly overflowed.
The Small Beginnings Youth Orchestra will benefit from new instruments and equipment purchased from a grant donated by the Governor’s Office.
Among the groups to receive donations from the Governor’s office are students at Salem Nursery School / Day Care Centre. The Governor’s office donated a DVD player to augment the TV recently donated by the Royal Bank of Canada.
