SENIOR SOCIAL WORKER
The Government of Montserrat is seeking to recruit a Senior Social Services Worker to support the Social Services Director in the development and implementation an integrated framework for social care. The Senior Social Worker will be expected to assist with the implementation of a safeguarding and fostering/adoption framework for children, including disabled children and management of the Social Work practice for work with Adults, the Elderly and Children.
CANDIDATES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE’ PROFILE
The Candidate should:
- be a UK /International Qualified Social Worker with a degree or MA in Social Work or Social Studies combined with a Professional training in Social work. An essential component in their Social work education must be Psychology;
- have worked as a Qualified Social Worker for at least ten years, the majority of which should have been in the Child Care Services, with practical experience in foster care and /or children with disabilities;
· have an understanding and past working experience of community care principles and practice;
· also have worked in a managerial capacity /senior supervisory role for at least five years, and should have had practical experience of chairing multi-agency meetings;
have a current registration with the General Social Care Council (UK) or their international equivalent.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT
The terms and conditions applicable for this appointment, include:
- A commencing appointment in September 2013 for a period of two (2) years;
- An attractive remuneration package consisting of housing allowance, transport allowance and return airfare. Salary is negotiable, subject to skills, knowledge and experience.

The Government of Montserrat is seeking to recruit a Child Safeguarding Specialist in the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) to play a key role in leading the development and implementation of a multi-agency Child Safeguarding framework for Montserrat
CANDIDATES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE’ PROFILE
The Candidate should:
- be a UK /International Qualified Social Worker with a degree or MA in Social Work or Social Studies combined with a Professional training in Social work. An essential component in their education should be Psychology;
- have worked as a Qualified Social Worker for at least ten years, the majority of which should have been in the Child Care (Child Protection) Services, with practice experience in foster care and/or adoption work;
- also have worked in a managerial capacity / supervisory role for at least five years;
- possess experience in training of personnel working in the Social Services field in aspects of social work, and especially training for prospective foster careers.
