Golden Years Home beneficiary of numerous donations from SDA Church, Funkyman and Hot Sport Bars

During the past recent months and during the just concluded Christmas season Golden Years Home has been the recipient of several donations.

The donations came from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, who early this year made donations to the Samuel Academy, assisting them in their fund; The Christmas Festival Hot Spot vendors at Little Bay and Carlton ‘Funkyman’ Allen during his annual Funkyman Awards.

On October 27, 2010 the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church made a donation of a special wheel chair, called the “shower chair”. Pastor Hastings of the SDA church with church Elder Verna West delivered the chair to the Golden Years Foundation.

Elder West explained that every year in January they do the harvesting gathering, taking the opportunity “to give the public the opportunity to help us contribute to our welfare work…” She said further that the funds are designated to three main areas namely education, welfare, and disaster, “so none of that money at all is used for the church itself.”

The pastor handed over a check. “I am pleased to donate or to give this check of $2,550.00 to the Golden Years Foundation towards a shower chair, and we pray that as you use this shower chair that it will bring joy and happiness to the inmates of this institution,” he said.

In response the Home Manager Sheryl White expressed thanks, explaining firstly: “We encourage our residents to have a bath at least once day, and the shower chair here would aid greatly the care givers as they assist the residents in taking their showers…”

“I would like to express sincere thanks to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for choosing us as one of their recipients for this donation,” she concluded.
It was a double for the SDA church as the delivered a check for $2000.00 to the Old People’s Welfare association. “Likewise we do hope that this money will go towards bringing joy and happiness to inmates of this institution,” they told Ms Bernadine Collins.
