ECCU Banking and other Financial Sector Executives examine the future of commercial banking in the ECCU

Representatives from commercial banks and non-bank financial institutions which operate within the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) will focus on “Configuration, Roles and Rules: The Future of Commercial Banking in the ECCU”, when they meet for the 22nd Annual Conference with Commercial Banks at the ECCB Headquarters, St Kitts and Nevis, on November 3 and 4.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has been hosting the Annual Conference with Commercial Banks since 1990.  The conference serves as a forum for discussing issues which are critical to the development of the region’s financial and banking sector.  This year, the discussions will focus on three sub-themes:

  1. Financial stability: defining, measuring and engendering;
  2. Recent developments in supervision and regulation; and
  3. Financial development and market structure: issues and outlook.

Mr Sean Albert, Vice President, Country Head – Caribbean East, the Bank of Nova Scotia; Mr Carl Hiralal, Inspector of Financial Institutions of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago; and Dr Winston Moore, Lecturer, Department of Economics of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus will present the papers.

The participants will include representatives from the ministries of finance and commercial banks which operate within the ECCU; the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance; and the ECCB and its affiliated institutions.
