On Thursday, August 13, 2014 The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank in collaboration with financial institutions and other private and public sector partners throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union jump started Financial Information Month (FIM) 2014 with the launch of the FIM theme song and video.

Via video conference from the ECCB headquarters and hosted at the Agency Office, in Brades, the following persons delivered addresses and remarks to a cross section of youths, teachers and media reps.

These presenters were: Cheryl Rolle – General Manager, Sagicor Life Inc., Commonwealth of Dominica; Donna Banks – Accounts Supervisor/Finance Manager (Ag) Anguilla Air & Sea Ports Authority, Anguilla; and Sybil Welsh – Adviser, Corporate Relations Department, ECCB

According to organisers this year’s theme emphasises that one has to rise above the ordinary to achieve success going beyond ordinary commitment, vision, skills, efforts and actions.

Although two months away, under the theme, “Soar to Succeed”, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank ECCB will hold their Regional Press Conference next week to officially launch the theme song and a video contest.DSC_3534 ECCB - web

The objective it says is to provide a platform for the campaign message to reach as many persons as possible through entertainment.

The video contest is expected to challenge young people here and throughout the ECCU to create an animated visual representation of the Financial Information Month theme song, following next week’s launch a Business Planning and Innovation Workshop scheduled for teachers on September 23.

The objective there, is to strengthen the technical and practical capacity of business teachers.

Other activities planned for Financial Information Month 2014 include a Business and Innovation Symposium, Savings Competition for primary school students and a Poetry Contest for third form students.

Another interesting addition this year is a wills forum which will explore the ramifications of making a will.
