DMCA hosts Incident Command System Workshop

The Government of Montserrat’s Disaster Management Coordination Agency sends in the following press release:

The Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) continues in its efforts to enable prepared and knowledgeable incident responders on island.   A three (3) day workshop sponsored and facilitated by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and DMCA began today at the DMCA’s Meeting. The training workshop is in response to one of the recommendations of the ‘Operation Greenflash’ exercise in February 2013.

Twenty three (23) participants were drawn from Response Agencies on island – J A Osborne Airport, Montserrat Port Authority, DMCA, Royal Montserrat Police Service, Royal Montserrat Defence Force, Montserrat Red Cross, Montserrat Fire & Rescue Services.

The Workshop will seek to renew knowledge on Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) functions and operations and to enhance understanding of the Incident Command system through discussions and exercises, using various scenarios.

The workshop ends on Friday, July 25, 2014.
