John Alfred Osborne dies

A Stalwart Passes

Former Chief Minister John Alfred Osborne

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our former chief minister, Mr. John Alfred Osborne. He was 74.

Mr. Osborne died in Kentucky, USA on Sunday morning, 2nd January, 2011, after an illness which left him in hospital since July last year.  He leaves to mourn a big and loving family as well as numerous friends and supporters.

He will long be remembered, not only by Montserratians here and in the Diaspora, but also by all CARICOM leaders with whom he served.

He was considered a great man who will go down in history as a great leader.

The first public words of the family announcing his death: “We have lost the irreplaceable centre of our family and an incomparable presence in all our lives, but his wisdom, courage, and irrepressible spirit will live with us forever.”

There are many who will share this.

Our immediate condolences go out to his family.
