BVI appoints new Deputy Governor

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, Feb. 15, CMC – The Senior Liason Officer to the Governor, David Archer Jr., has been appointed Deputy Governor of this British Overseas territory.

Archer will succeed Rosalie Adams who is expected to officially demit office on February 28.

According to the Virgin Islands Constitution, the Deputy Governor is responsible for assisting the Governor in the exercise of his functions.

The primary role of the Deputy Governor is to oversee the management and development of the Virgin Islands public service, lead the public service to ensure the effective delivery of the government’s programme, and to maintain the highest standards of service-delivery and good governance.

Archer, who served as Acting Deputy Governor between June 2 and July 31 in 2016, has more than 20 years experience in the public service.

He has held the post of Senior Assistant Human Resources Manager as well as Deputy Director, and Director in the Department of Human Resources.

He has also served as Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office.
