Brilliant Blooms at 2nd Annual Flower Show

DSC_0358DSC_0366SALEM, Montserrat – For the second year in a row the Montserrat National Trust hosted its flower show from December 5 -7, 2014 at their offices and Botanical Gardens in Salem.

The show was declared open by Honourable Acting Premier Claude Hogan on Friday. He commended the trust for putting together an event which offers another view of the beauty of Montserrat.

There were hundreds of entries in more than 75 categories, including cut flowers, vegetables, potted plants and creatures made of fruits and/or vegetables.

Aldean Williams took first place in the Cut Flowers section for Annuals, while Daphne Cassell won for her Anthuriums in the Potted Plants category.

The champion exhibitors were: 1st place Donna Henry who won a trip to Trois Islet, Martinique; 2nd place Daphne Cassell, winning a trip to the Dominica Flower Show and 3rd place went to Rev. Joan Meade who will be able to stay at Olveston House in 2015.

In the Creatures Made of Fruits and/or vegetables category which is open to children, the winners were Selannie Lake in 1st place, Brades Primary School in 2nd and 3rd place to Ralagne Smith of Lookout Primary School.

The displays were arranged with the support of the Trinidad & Tobago Orchid Society
