While the Caribscan and the Pink Ribbon Charity had announced that following another successful fundraising campaign sixty (60) more women on Montserrat will now be able to receive free mammograms, they were soon the announce later, “We have now paid for 120 Mammograms.”
A release would say that they have assigned names to these vouchers and that ‘All Mammogram Vouchers’ must be redeemed by Dec 15, 2014.
In addition they announced later, that as a result of “a generous offer from a local establishment on we received funds for an additional 20 vouchers. These will be available for extreme emergencies or to those who missed the 120 allocation,” sources told TMR.
All the good news came following the fifth annual Pink Ribbon Walk which involved more than 190 men, women and children who took the almost one-hour trek from Lookout Community Centre to The Lyme complex in Brades, where another 100 people were waiting.
There, organizer Sonia Charles of Caribscan said this had been quite an emotional week as she was touched by the tremendous support that she’d received at each event created to bring awareness to breast health and to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Charity.
Following the annual fund raiser and the course of the week, Belmont Clinic of Antigua received a total of $21,000 was prepayment for 140 Mammograms.
