A number of events have been schedule to take place on Montserrat during this year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations to commemorate the 60th year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth 11.
Governor Adrian Davis during his month press conference on Wednesday, May, 16, 2012 at the Governor’s Office Conference Room stated that a total 94 medals will be awarded for outstanding service to officers in the Royal Montserrat Police Service, The Fire and Rescue Service, The Prison Service and The Montserrat Defence Force on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Government House.
Montserrat, along with two hundred other nations in the world will also light the World Jubilee Beacon on Monday, June 4, 2012 outside the Montserrat Cultural Centre at 7:30pm followed by a display of fireworks.
The Queen’s Birthday Parade will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Little Bay, while The Diamond Jubilee party will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
According to Governor Davis, Queen Elizabeth 11 is only the second monarch to reach their Diamond Jubilee. Queen Victoria who served from 1837 to 1901, a total of 64 years was the first to reach her Diamond Jubilee.
