2014/15 Chevening scholarship winner, Kimona Daniel

Kimona DanielActing Senior Medical Technologist at the Glendon Hospital, Kimona Daniel is the 2014/2015 Chevening Scholarship recipient from Montserrat. The announcement was made in an August 1 Government House Press Release.

Miss Daniel will study for a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Science in the United Kingdom. She will begin the course at Kingston University.

According to the release, Miss Daniel will benefit from study for an MSc in Biomedical Science with Management Studies from September this year. She is accordingly offered the opportunity to study for a one-year Master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding established or emerging leaders across a wide range of fields if they already possess a first degree from a recognized university.

His Excellency the Governor, Adrian Davis has congratulated Kimona on her successful award. Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s prestigious global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations.

The programme also provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance and also to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK.

Meanwhile the OECS Secretariat is announcing that, “The UK Government is deeply committed to their relationships in the Caribbean and as such they have increased the number of scholarships offered in the Caribbean for the 2015-16 academic year.”

The Secretariat advises: “Applicants must be nationals of OECS countries or Barbados; hold a degree equivalent to a 2.19 (hons) or higher and have at least two year’s real world experience in the work-force (or volunteering).”
