Jamaica bus crash
KINGSTON, Jamaica, Jan. 15, CMC – The female cruise ship passenger who died following a four-vehicle collision in the northern parish of Trewlany on Thursday, has been identified as Crystal Glewwe, 32, a US citizen.
Glewwe and other passengers were injured when the bus in which they were travelling was involved in the accident.
Twenty-one passengers were rushed to hospital where Glewwe died while being treated at the Falmouth Hospital in the parish.
The police report that accident which also involved a truck, a panel van and a car occurred as the bus was returning to the cruise ship Independence of the Seas from an excursion to Dolphin Swim and Dunn’s River Falls attractions.
“Three other guests were injured and are being treated at the local hospital. Crew members are at the hospital with our guests in order to help respond to this terrible incident,” said Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in a release late Thursday.
Glewwe’s eight-year-old daughter was among the injured.
The child’s father is scheduled to arrive in the island on Friday.
Meanwhile as investigations continue into the tragedy, the police have been questioning the driver of the truck involved in the collision.
